Bowser Elementary Hatchery Visit – Nov18

November 18th saw two classes from Bowser Elementary visit our hatchery.

Approximately 50 students took part in the tour that included information on how the eggs are handled on their arrival from the Quinsam River hatchery until they are fully developed and released.

Students arriving at Hatchery

The day before the visit fish traps were placed in the side channel and they were opened when the students walked to the end of the side channel. When the traps were checked there were over 90 coho fry, as well as Dolly Varden, Cutthroat trout and sculpins.

The students have been invited back when the fry are released sometime in late March or early April.
